Dr Karl Hollows

Staff Grade & Associate Specialists Representative

Dr Karl Hollows is an Associate Specialist in Sexual Health Medicine in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. He qualified from Birmingham University Medical School in 1998 and initially trained in general internal medicine before specialising in sexual health in 2002. He was appointed to his current position in 2009 and has held an Honorary Clinical Lecturer position at the University of Keele since 2008.

His main clinical interests include the integration of sexual health services, the health needs of MSM and sexual dysfunction. He has taken a lead role in the integration of contraception and genitourinary medicine services locally having worked across both services for a number of years. In 2008 he established a new specialised sexual function clinic and qualified as a COSRT accredited Sexual and Relationship Therapist. This clinic has since developed into a Sexual Medicine service, which he leads. He also has an active role in medical education and recently established a new training post in sexual health for local VTS trainees. He is a STIF course director and a registered trainer for STIF competencies and for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Locally, Dr Hollows is the SAS Doctor representative on the trust Local Negotiating Committee (LNC) and sits on the trust SAS Doctor Board.
