Dr Margaret Kingston

Fellow to the Board

Margaret graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1996 and worked as a junior then senior house officer in medicine at the teaching hospitals in Nottingham. She trained in Genitourinary Medicine firstly in Nottingham then in Manchester and Bolton and was appointed Consultant at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2003. She is part of a team that has developed a tertiary HIV and Sexual Health service providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, a portfolio of sub-specialist services and clinical research. Margaret has led within the service on young person’s services, safeguarding, HIV care in pregnancy and medical education. She has an MSc in Medical Education and has been Training Programme Director since 2010. Within her trust she has held different posts in medical education and presently is Associate Medical Director with responsibility for medical education.

Margaret has been active in BASHH (and its preceding organisations) since 1999. She has been the lead author for the 2008 & 2015 national guidelines for the management of syphilis and a CEG member since 2010. She was elected as a BASHH Board Fellow in January 2016.
